    Amazing dinner and fab breakfast. Lovely welcoming staff.
    Room was small but I was on my own so no problem. Could do with a lick of paint in the bathroom but Im being picky!

    Fabulous! Good value, comfortable, lovely food, interesting place, and great location.
    A really lovely place to stay. Unusual with lots of history and very interesting gardens. You can tell it's a family-owned and -run place, a lot of care and attention to detail and the customer experience. Breakfast was good, lovely local bacon and sausages, all beautifully cooked. We also had dinner the night before and it was absolutley delicious! The bed was super comfy, too. Will definitely stay again.
    My only slight niggle was there could have been a bit more choice for the breakfasts. Smoked salmon with the poached eggs, for e.g. It was a bit limited what was on offer, although they did offer kippers. Also, no fresh fruit available on the breakfast counter - we had to ask for some - and no yoghurt. I'm not sure what provision there was for vegans, either. No mention of it. I'm not vegan but these days you do expect it to be on the breakfast menu as alternative choices.

    Nice people running a quirky place with a good kitchen, probably best-visited in spring/summer.
    Warm & welcoming public spaces. Comfortable, big bed. Food was very good, using fresh produce. Lady in charge was charming and staff all very helpful.
    Room decor too quirky for my liking & not entirely functional. Cask ales are pushed through a chiller(!)

    The food was great, the room was spacious and the staff were also great!
    4 for a coke, 3.50 for soda and lime, 3.00 for soda water....for someone who doesn't drink the prices for soft drink alternatives is far too high and needs revising. The morning of checking out there were cleaning staff members congregating outside our room, "Angelica", for a full hour and a half from after breakfast to checkout which we had to squeeze past whilst taking things to and from our car and from outside to and from the gardens, just made us feel a little uncomfortable. Not that we are that bothered by spiders, but might need a hoover / duster to go round all off corners of the room, high and low, to clean away cobwebs.

    Id stay again at this interesting inn, probably in the summer, to explore the interesting outside space. Great welcome
    Quirky rooms. Really good food & interesting food. Less-good on the ale front (real ales are put through a chiller, sadly). Lady in charge was very welcoming and charming.
    Slightly too cluttered with curios.

    A comfortable, beautiful place to stay which was incredible value for money as a family of five.
    The staff were extremely accommodating. The garden staff even let our children feed the donkeys ginger biscuits which made their day :-)

    The garden was charming and original. The hotel and bar were historic quirky and fun. The dinner in the hotel restaurant was very good.. A pleasant stay.
    The standard room was very small and carpet here and in hall could benefit from a deep clean. The breakfast lacked gf choice.
