The staff assistance at the front desk was spotty on what I would call "extras" - help with dinner reservations upon arrival and follow up by the Concierge prior to arrival to secure reservations each night. For the former, it was a matter of the person not knowing how the restaurant they recommended did their dinner service or whether they even had bar /place to wait for a table. Not only were they wrong, but they did not bother calling ahead for us to see if there was availability. We got to the restaurant prepared to wait, but the restaurant had no tables available, no hope for a table, and no ability to wait in the establishment. When I called back to the front desk asking for help to find a place likely to have a table I had to become insistent that they help call around, not just give us a name they think would have a table.
This type of experience also bleeds into the exchange with the Concierge before arriving. We got 1 great reservation set up (La Balena!) but struggled the other night. I did delay in responding and asking if there were times/dates that matched our desires, but when I did respond prior to arrival I never heard from the Concierge, even during our stay. Just odd. I am also beginning to think that Concierge in the US is not the same as in Europe so my expectations could be completely off. I have had some absolutely fabulous experiences and help from Concierge services in Europe.
