Tucked away in a private, secure, separate wing which is accessed via our courtyard gardens. Whilst others have spire or four poster beds and a separate sitting room overlooking the hotels courtyard. Want to return but Ill spend more on an improved room in future!
Large room and superb facilities.
Unfortunately the air con wasnt working in the room, and despite having the window open as wide as possible it was very hot at night.

Well where do I start, the stay over all was ok
But there was a lack in standards for what I expected for a 5* hotel, the food in the restaurant unfortunately lacked seasoning and the over all presentation was just not there. The room itself was ok but needed work and there was no plug sockets next to the bed, we where on the garden level and was left feeling like there was no privacy due the trees are where meant to give privacy where half missing so people where looking into are room.
The phones were also not working so had to go to the front deck every time we wanted something.
The staff were ok but some looked very untidy again I expect more from a 5* hotel.
The spa was good and the hot pool was a favourite
Over all the service and food really let down the hotel

Expected better from Macdonald. Won't be staying again.
Prior to our stay, the staff were friendly and communicative. When we arrived, the front desk staff were friendly and professional. The Spa treatments were great and the gym was good.
The in room phones didn't work the whole time we were there, so we couldn't ring the front desk, housekeeping, concierge, room service etc.
The several of the breakfast staff were not fully attentive.
The Christmas Eve dinner was a disaster - poor service, poor quality of food etc.

Needs to up its game
Despite shabbiness, the outside pool was lovely in the rain and the steam rooms were fun. The bed was huge and super comfy. Some staff- receptionist concierge were lovely.
A little shabby, especially in the spa area- broken tiles, tired robes, warped decking. Service hit and miss. Reception great but breakfast staff indifferent . Breakfast OK but no better than a Premier Inn tbh. Coffee was stewed and we had to ask several times for more butter tea etc. Waiter not bothered! Colonnade bar tables not clean- and drinks very expensive, to which they add a service charge!! Mad when you collect the drinks yourself ...We'd messaged the hotel several times with enquiries which weren't responded to and subsequently they couldn't accommodate us for dinner as fully booked- this wasn't flagged when we checked in. Taxi into Bath for dinner then cost us 16! We had a courtyard suite which was again a little tired and tea/coffee facilities sparse. The hotel also doesn't really have comfortable places to just sit and relax- lounge small and not particularly welcoming.

Breakfast was good but some items had to be hunted for around the room.
The location of the hotel is good.
Nice spa.
Shared areas of the hotel are attractive.
Not all lights worked in the rooms.
Fan didn't work in either bathroom.
Drains were blocked in bath so water didn't drain when you showered.
Bedrooms were too hot overnight.
One bedroom bathroom took forever to get any hot water

Would not recommend. Extremely outdated and not worth the money.
The bed was comfy, the staff friendly. That's about it.
Me and my partner were extremely disappointed with our stay. The hotel is meant to be 5 stars but the only thing that potentially lives up to that is the reception/lobby area. The whole hotel is extremely dated and in need of refurbishment. Our room smelled of smoke and old, the toilet seat was chipped, stains all over the bathroom, weird stains on the sheets and the carpet on the floor as well as being an adjoined room which meant being woken up by the next door neighbours at 5.30 am on January 1st, really not ideal. The spa was in need of refurbishment as well with tiles missing and just a general look of worn down. How this hotel can keep their 5 stars is beyond me. I have stayed at 3 stars hotel which have been way better. For 300 we were expecting far better. Complete rip off.
