it was, what it was. We stayed for 3 nights and to be honest it was OK, but just OK.

brilliant location, 3mins to the high street.

room had dirty windows and frames with black marks on the plastic. lampshade had tears and was very worn. light stand did not work. bedding had stain and tears in the quilt cover. water was not very hot. toilet so close to the wall and toilet roll holder it was an extremely tight fit.

Needs some TLC but great location and friendly staff

The staff were all lovely and helpful. The location is fantastic just off the high street and the bed was comfortable. The room was also very spacious with a great view of the cathedral

The shower was cold, to the point the water from the sink tap was hotter! It was also fairly dirty in the room, bathroom and corridors. The hotel is quite run down and needs a proper refurb. There were exposed wires in the ceilings of the corridors, tape on frayed carpet etc

No modern electrical sockets by the bed. Broken kettle. Cold shower.

The hotel and the room looked pretty. Keith the maintenance manager when I was finally able to reach him, was helpful.

In general things worked very badly. The room was cold, the kettle was broken, the shower was cold. Most important for me, since I need to use breathing apparatus whilst I sleep, there were no modern UK electrical sockets adjacent to the bed. In fact there were three round-pin sockets from a bygone era. Worst still, when I told the lady on reception, she didn't believe me. I had to photograph the problem and show her a picture. Finally the staff lent me an extension cable which trapsed across the floor, and wanted to put the extension cable on my bill. To make matters worse, there was no information in the room, and the fridge was hidden in a cabinet with a false front. I had stuff I needed to refrigerate, but I didn't find the fridge until I was about to leave. Totally unworthy of being called a four-star hotel.

Stay somewhere else.

Location

Booked for 11 nights. Reception couldnt find booking, found booking then room wasnt ready on arrival, having travelled from Australia. Staff werent sure if room was being refurbished or not; room had not been cleaned, smelt very musty, grubby, beds were badly made, housekeeping had to come in and clean. Tap didnt work in bathroom, no shower gel. Complained to staff, they offered to move us to exec room the next day. Arrived and door wouldnt work, (housekeeping team said that specific door always sticks) maintenance called in. Discussed with manager - decided to leave hotel after securing alternative accommodation. Full refund provided.
