The Wykeham Arms is highly recommended for its excellent food, wine list, and characterful rooms. The pub is conveniently located near attractions like Kingsgate and the Cathedral. Guests enjoyed dis (Read More)hes like fish and chips, haddock & chips, and lamb pie, as well as the cozy Garden Suite with a large bathroom. The pub also offers a great Sunday roast and friendly service, although some found the wine selection lacking.

Disappointing

We have been going to the Wykeham for decades and the ambience arising from the character and history of the place are always enjoyable. Our room was clean and comfortable. Food was delicious.

Sadly, Fullers are letting this wonderful establishment down by understaffing. The problems encountered during our stay were numerous. Check in was a farce, (involving being moved around different rooms despite having already unpacked, and disturbing an ensconced resident). Drink orders were slow to arrive and the wrong order. Staff were overstretched, making service poor.

Pricey, however well worth it for the location, in room roll top bath, fabulous breakfast!

Fabulous room with a very comfortable bed, great facilities in terms of fresh milk, tea/coffee, free bottles of water, plenty of towels and beautiful toiletries. Price included breakfast and was very delicious with lots of choice and very fresh. Onsite parking was perfect. City centre location ideal to walk to everywhere. Decor dated, but fitted in with the building style and what expected.

The cold water tap on the bath wouldn't turn off, dripped all night. When reported to staff they were not bothered about this fact, no apology. Carpet had stains on and didn't feel particularly clean.

Conveniently placed, but rather disappointing for the price I paid.

The room was good quite large and a bath in the room, which was no use to me, but could be nice for some and a large bed and shower and toilet off the room. TV, coffee, tea and refrigerated water were provided.

There was a Nespresso coffee pod machine, but I could get no pods to workthey were simply flattened , so I gave up, but reported it. The pillows were all quite soft and not very supportive. I noticed a waste bin which had not been emptied, but it was Christmas Eve evening and I was tired and left it. Body wash and shampoo were provided, only the hand wash and body wash were both virtually empty. The shower door closed, but then opened again not fully, but enough for water to get out.I reported that. It was busy and Christmas, but the price had risen alarmingly and they now provided coffee at breakfast in a large thermos and no longer in individual cafetires.but it was unrecognisable as coffee and had a not very pleasant taste. The porridge was watery and another guest was wrestling with a toaster that seemed not to work well. For the bumped-up Christmas price I felt all these things should not have been evident and had not been so in previous stays at the Wykeham Arms. For the price , would it not be possible to provide a token number of paper tissues in the room?

The place and area. The history. The breakfast. The kindness from staff who made my day as deaf person. Looking forward to come back.

I'm satisfied. Next time i will book a room in the pub house.

A very pleasant stay in a lovely city

Excellent breakfast Very good dinner on first night. Staff very helpful with moving cars in the very small car park.

Heating wasn't working on the second day but very quickly remedied when reported

A bit disappointed

The pub was charming & the bedroom clean, well equipped in the bathroom with toiletries & a v comfy bed. Tea & coffee was in the room & in a small fridge water, milk & a London Pride beer was complimentary.

The breakfast table was lacking fruit juice, plates for toast both of which I had to ask for & our table didn't have the jam selection that was on others & I asked for that too. After our room had been serviced, fresh water & milk were in the fridge & coffee pods had been refilled, however, the dirty cups, spoons & glasses hadn't been replaced. We asked if we could have clean mugs & glasses & they were brought to us immediately but the dirtys left behind? Small things but attention to detail was lacking. We ate in the restaurant on one evening & although the food was beautifully cooked we felt very over priced, not good value & the service was slow.
