Reception was so dated, unwelcoming by furniture and sooo old looking, immediately gave a very disappointing reaction very disconnected from the actual heritage of main building. Reception itself was the same. The bare minimum and sad and ugly.
The blue sofas everywhere felt like you where in some dated waiting room. It didnt make sense for any purpose. No chairs or anything in actual bar. You go and get a drink and then take them to the sad sofas. Very strange.
Facilities of leisure - good, however at eye level when swimming which is the main activity - all pillars completely covered in rust at the bottom on all of them!
Good steam room.
Housekeeping- friendly & good and prompt.
Dinner in the Huntley - attentive and friendly staff ( Portuguese supervisor ) and team working was the only highlight of our stay and the taste of our beef mains.

Its in need of modernisation, I dont like having to book the spa either, its just a hassle. The spa also needs a good clean and modernising - the changing rooms in particular.

Beautiful place but the swimming pool let us down it doesnt say when booking swimming shuts off early for kids as I booked it purposely for the pool for the kids .

My fiance and I stayed for our anniversary & New Years Eve. It was cozy and relaxing. With beautiful architecture.
The property itself is absolutely stunning. We liked the fact they had kept it quite traditional and not tried to modernise it.
There wasnt much to dislike to be honest. The heating didnt seem to be working properly but we were provided with an electric heater which helped. There was also a few cobwebs on the four poster bed. But otherwise we cant complain at all.
