Golf Courses in Mumbai For A Hole-in-One Experience

This ancient game sees its encouraging rise in the present times as well. Also referred to as the "Rich man's game", golf usually is found in posh hubs all throughout the world and one such place is Mumbai. The reason why the game may be called so is due to its expensive character and laid back sportive style. Although most of the golf courses are restricted to club members, there are a few that invite the general public and tourists to have a golfing experience.  These golf clubs not only offer a good time for playing the sport and socialising with your golf pals or going solo, they also provide learning sessions that are open to both children and adults.

Here are the golf courses in Mumbai that are open to the general public and tourists:

1. Bombay Presidency Golf Club (BPGC)

Established in the year 1927, the BPGC is one of Mumbai's oldest and most famous golf courses. The vast arena is stretched across 6184 yards and is an 18- hole golf course. It is situated in Chembur, East Mumbai, a 16-minute drive from Mumbai Airport. Lifetime memberships are closed currently, but individuals could avail memberships for shorter periods of time, such as the corporate membership and various others listed under their membership schemes.

The club also has a club-house with a swimming pool, health club, accommodation, and restaurants.

Although the club is elite with regard to its membership and facilities for the members which is mostly the case with most of the golf course in Mumbai, there are some amenities open for the general public as well.

The club visits peak between November and May.
Closed on Mondays.
Timings - 6:30 AM till sunset, which is around 7:00 PM
Membership Rules
Green fees to be paid by accompanied member guests is INR 2760 during weekdays and INR 3300 during weekends or public holidays 
Cart fees and Caddy fees are INR 500 and INR 150 respectively
30-minute learning session with professionals for member guests is INR 5130
Non-member guests are not allowed

2. Kharghar Valley Golf Course (KVGC)

One of the best golf courses in Mumbai that open up for its local and international golfing enthusiasts. While all the other major golf courses are expensively restricted to members and their associations, the KVGC provides a great start for those who are excited to take up a golfing career and provides a fulfilling exposure to those who just want to have a good time.
This 11 hole golf course encompassing a whole 103 hectares of land is situated in the Kharghar valley. What adds to its scenic beauty are the mountain ranges, lavish greenery, and the renowned Pandav kada waterfall that bracket the golf course.

It is around 4 kilometres from the Kharghar Railway station and an hour and a half drive from Mumbai Airport.
Closed on Mondays.
Timings - 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Timings for learning sessions - 6:30 AM to 3:30 AM
Membership Rules
Green fees to be paid by non-member nationals on weekdays and weekends are INR 1200 + tax and INR 600 + tax.
School children up to tenth grade would be charged INR 300 + tax on weekdays and are not allowed on weekends and/or public holidays, which may not be the case at other golf courses in Mumbai.
A weekday and weekend play visit for foreign nationals would cost INR 2400 + tax and INR 1200 + tax respectively.
In addition to an entry fee of INR 100, learning and/or practicing charges (per hour) would cost Individuals (aged >16 years) INR 400 + tax and INR 200 + tax for children below 16 years.
Each ball in a learning or practicing session would cost INR 1.
Golf cart renting prices are as follows:
6 seater INR 1200 + tax
4 seater INR 800 + tax
2 seater INR 500 + tax

3. Aamby Valley Golf Course

Chosen as the “world’s best golf course” amongst the golf courses in Mumbai and global, by a 66 jury membered panel, competing with the continents and 88 other participants at the International Property Awards held at London, this 18 hole valley golf course covers a whopping 7100 yardage expanding across 256 acres of lush greenery would gravitate any golf lover towards it. It holds a 72 par golf yard that is floodlit be it day or night! It is also referred to as the “Western Ghats Golf Club” that would soon include a golf academy as well.
It acts as a great weekend hangout spot as the golf course is a part of a vaster and exquisite Aamby Valley Resort, you could either go away for a golf-astic weekend or visit the place during weekdays or weekends at almost the same prices.
Located in Lonavala, the Aamby Valley golf course is a 2h30m to 3h drive from Mumbai Railway station and a 3.5-4 hour drive from Mumbai airport.
It is advisable to not go during the monsoons as the golf course unlike other golf courses in Mumbai, would be shut and would reopen during October end.
Membership Rules
The prices for national and foreign visitors would start from INR 8000 (includes green fees and buggy charges), per person.
Tips are not included in the above-packaged price and are to be given directly to the person (driver, guide, etc)
