Located close to Elounda, Kolokytha beach got its name from the pumpkin-shaped rocks found around the beach. The route to the beach is a little rocky, and the visitors have to walk for about 10 minutes to reach the beach. Suitable for swimming and snorkeling, the crystal blue water and not so commercialized beach area is a heaven for nature lovers surrounded by rocks, greenery, and small hills.
The beach is an offbeat beach that does not have any amenities such as changing rooms, toilets or sunbeds, and it is advisable to carry food, water, and other necessities.
