One of the largest archaeological museums in the city, the Antalya museum is located just 3 km west of Kalekapisi in Konyaalti. It consists of 13 large exhibition halls and one open-air exhibit. Ancient sculptures of Greek gods and goddesses, Hercules marble statue, pottery, sarcophagi and the Ottoman collection of weapons, apparel, and artefacts from the Old Stone Age are showcased here.
Covering an area of 30,000 square ft on the two floors, the museum houses more than 5000 works of art and has about 25,000-50,000 artefacts stored inside. The vast halls at the Antalya Museum include the Prehistoric hall, Icons hall, Regional Excavation hall, Roman Imperial Statues, Mosaics hall, etc. History lovers will fall in love with the Hall of Sacrophagi exhibiting the excavations of the Perge necropolis. Do not miss the magnificent exhibits of ‘mosaic of philosophers and the dancing women and the Emperor Hadrianus. The museum has a small gift shop and a cafe.
