Yivli Minare Mosque, Alaaddin Mosque or Ulu Mosque, is a 13th-century historical mosque situated in the old city centre of Kaleici. It is one of the first Islamic buildings to have been built in Antalya and one of the oldest structures to demonstrate a multi-dome architecture with its 6 domes. It is part of a complex structure called Külliye and stands tall at 38 metres. There is also a museum within it showcasing the lifestyle and living standards of the ancient people of Antalya
Constructed on the highest point in the city, it is one of the most famous attractions in the area. Its Fluted Minaret, ‘the Yivli Minaret’, is decorated with dark blue tiles and is made up of unique cylindrical projections. Built during the rule of Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Kaykubad I, it displays many elements from the Seljuk period such as geometric designs and calligraphic inscriptions. The other buildings that are part of the complex include the Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev Madrasa, and the Mevlevihane Museum which consists of Mevlevihane, Hamam, Zincirkıran Mehmet Bey and Nigar Hatun tombs. It is forbidden to come in during the time of Salah which takes place 5 times a day. The visitors are required to dress properly and take off their shoes at the entrance.
