Nestled in Druid Hill Park, Maryland Zoo is the only zoo in Baltimore and is the third oldest zoo in the country. The zoo is sprawled over 135 acres and is a haven for more than 1,500 wild animals and 200 distinct species of birds. Divided into five main areas, the zoo offers a wildlife landscape in its Schaefer Plaza, Maryland Wilderness, African Journey, Polar Bear Watch, and Zoo Central.
Blue bellied roller, marbled duck, cheetah, cape porcupine, chimpanzee, African Elephants, Ostrich, Ground Hornbill, lemur among other astonishing species can be spotted in the African Journey exhibit of the zoo. The Children’s Zoo is full of lily pads, caves, and birds nest followed by polar bears, grizzly bears, ravens, arctic foxes in the Polar Bear Watch exhibit. Apart from some enthralling wildlife safari, visitors can explore the gift shop, dog exhibit, lion statues, and playgrounds.
