One of the oldest Baptist churches in the country, the First Baptist Church or “Brattle Square Church” was built in the Richardsonian and Romanesque style in 1665 and offers a little bit of greenery. A noteworthy feature is a frieze decorated with sculptures referred to as “Les Quatres Etapes de la vie Chretienne” or “the Four Stages of the Christian Life.” It hosts Bible Study and Prayer meetings on Wednesdays between the months of September to June. Sunday services are marked by choir and solo performances.
