Robert Treat Paine Estate is a 113-acre country house and is also known as Stonehurst. Located in Waltham, Massachusetts, this house and the lush greens surrounding it are maintained by the City of Waltham now. The house was built in 1866 for the famous philanthropist Robert Treat Paine Jr. and has been with the Paine family for about a century.
It was designed by the duo Richardson and Olmsted and is open to public viewing, the only one of its kind by this duo. The house is astonishingly well maintained and one can reflect onto the rich Victorian-era history. It is a brilliant example of architecture and history and also houses a library and a museum. Also, it can be booked for weddings or other events.
