Viharamahadevi is one of the biggest and oldest parks in Sri Lanka, located quite close to the National Museum in Colombo. The park's highlight is a huge Buddha statue accompanied by series of water fountains. It also has a mini zoo and a children’s play area. The park also offers breathtaking sunrise and sunset views.
The Viharamahadevi Park was initially known as Victoria Park and was renamed after the mother of King Dutugemunu. The recent renovations to the Viharamahadevi Park have transformed the structure and have made it into a gem of Colombo. It is a family place, with many families on a picnic in the nearby garden and couples spending quality time in the park. Further, there is also an open stadium which is used for several events and even concerts. There are plenty of food stalls nearby that serve snacks and tasty treats.
