Named after the erstwhile sovereign of Chamba, the Bhuri Singh Museum is known to preserve its cultural heritage. Founded in 1908, the museum is located at the heart of Chamba and has a vast collection of inherited art. Possessing over 8500 antiques, objects related to archaeology, anthropology, craft and culture, Bhuri Singh Museum is an eloquent testimony to the past of Chamba.
Initially, the museum only inherited the paintings of Raja Bhuri Singh, but now it houses copper plate grants, carved doors and miniature paintings of old palaces. It also has a vast collection of coins, armour, jewellery and musical instruments. There are exhibits of paintings from Basohli School which showcases the scenes from Ramayana and Bhagvat Geeta.
