The Dar es Salaam Botanical Garden, established in 1893, sprawl across 140 acres in the Kivukoni area. Initially used for testing cash crops, they now host over 600 plant species, including rare ones. Guided tours are available for visitors to explore the gardens and learn about their history.
Managed by the Horticultural Society, the garden feature a variety of indigenous and exotic plants like scarlet flame trees and palms. They also grow plantation crops such as rubber, teak, coffee, and cotton. The garden houses the National Herbarium of Tanzania and offer attractions like the Orchid House, Bonsai Garden, Reptile House, and Butterfly Garden, providing a diverse and educational experience for visitors.
