St Stephen’s Green is a public park and garden with dainty flowerbeds and well-kept shrubbery. The park also has a duck pond and some lovely gazebos. Information boards and statues have been erected around the park detailing the events of the 1916 Easter Rising that took place here.
The park is isolated from the city’s hustle and bustle, letting you enjoy some tranquillity. There’s also a playground for children and a lake occupied by swans and ducks inside it. St Stephen’s Green got its name from a medieval leper hospital dedicated to Saint Stephen. It was opened for the citizens by Lord Ardilaun in 1880. During the Easter Rising, a week-long conflict occurred between the Irish Citizen Army positioned in the park and the British Army. You will be able to see the statues and stories of some of those revolutionaries in the park.
Other Important Objective Information : Dogs are not allowed in the Playground or around the Lake and Fountains.
