Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral, built in 1827, boasts a spectacular sight of the caldera and the volcano. Also known as the Church of Ypapantis, it is located at the bottom of the town and can be seen from various parts of the island. It has vibrant mosaics and icons.
It is also worth noting the arcades and arches that form a tiny courtyard. Merely a 3-minute walk away from the central bus depot and from a private parking lot, keep an eye out for the frescoes decorating the church by local artist Christoforos Asimis.
