Korenlei, Ghent Overview

The Korenlei is a historic quay situated along the left bank of the Leie River in Ghent's city center, directly opposite the Graslei. Just like Graslei it is a cultural and touristic hotspot, featuring a row of historical buildings and a high concentration of café patios. It is a known place to appreciate the architectural beauty and to capture photographs, especially during sunset when the lighting enhances the facades. The area is also noted for its lively atmosphere, with street musicians and local events adding to its appeal.

The Korenlei boasts a collection of well-preserved medieval and Renaissance-era buildings, each reflecting Ghent's rich mercantile past. Notable structures include the Guild House of the Unfree Boatmen and the Tolhuisje (Toll House), which highlight the area's historical significance in trade and commerce.
