Glasgow Cathedral is a medieval cathedral known for its high vaulted ceilings, elaborate carvings, and beautiful stained glass windows. Located in the heart of Glasgow, it is one of Scotland’s oldest cathedrals and Glasgow’s oldest buildings.
The Glasgow Cathedral has a rich history and is the oldest building in Glasgow, having survived several wars and fires throughout the centuries. It was dedicated to St. Mungo, the patron saint of Glasgow, and was a centre of worship and pilgrimage for many years. Built in the 12th and 13th centuries, the cathedral is considered one of Scotland's finest examples of Gothic architecture and is the only building to have survived the Protestant Reformation of 1560 intact.
