Located at Trongate 103 in the Merchant City, Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre is a performing arts theater in Glasgow. It has a sizable collection of kinetic or moving sculptures beautifully hand-carved characters made with scrap.
The theatre offers vibrant shows stacked with cross-cultural stories and exquisite visuals that are liked by all generations. Remarkably, the sculptures of Sharmanka kinetic are also exhibited in Glasgow Museums, the Museum of Nonconformist Art in St Petersburg, and the Science Museum in Jerusalem Granada Science Park. Every show at this theatre is presented with a synchronized soundtrack and custom-fit lighting. The two main shows at this theatre are Promenade which is popular amongst audiences of all ages, and Wheels of Life, which is intended for an adult audience - both running for 40 minutes. Sharmanka has been entertaining people for more than three decades, since its opening in St. Petersburg in 1989. The word Sharmanka is a Russian word for barrel-organ or wheel fiddle. Later, in 1996, the Sharmanka Kinetic Gallery was also inaugurated in Glasgow.
