A major highlight of any trip to Haridwar is witnessing the Ganga Aarti at the Har-ki-Pauri Ghat as the sun goes down, with diyas lit everywhere and prayers chanted. Also, visit some of its revered temples like the Chandi Devi Temple, Mansa Devi Temple and Vaishno Devi Temple. Other sacred sites include the Har Ki Pauri ghat, Gau Ghat and Birla Ghat.
Depending on when you visit Haridwar, you might be able to attend the holy event that is Kumbh Mela. It is organised once every twelve years and finds its origins in the Vedic texts. Bhuma Niketan is a pilgrimage site that houses idols of Gods and Goddesses and is surrounded by green gardens and fountains. Haridwar is also known for ashrams like the Jai Ram Ashram and Saptrishi Ashram.
Make your way over to the Bhimgoda Tank, named after one of the Pandava brothers, that has water from the Ganges and features colourful flowers and lush gardens.
