Cha Tam Church is a cultural landmark in the city of Ho Chi Minh. Built in 1900, the church features beautiful gothic architecture and is ideal for some peace and quiet. It's known for being the hiding place where former President Ngo Dinh Diem fled to with his brother after the coup in 1963.
Cha Tam Church is a Catholic Church built in the 19th century for the Chinese Catholics of Saigon. It is dedicated to François Xavier Tam Assou, a Chinese born vicar apostolic of Saigon. With various elements of Chinese architecture, the yellow coloured edifice juxtaposed with green and white interiors makes it look extremely beautiful. Images of the cross are embellished everywhere in the church. It is visited by plethora of people everyday and has an active congregation of 3000 ethnic Vietnamese and 2000 Chinese, who come for daily mass to pray and seek blessings. Lush green gardens on either side of the church enhance its beauty tenfold.
