Coffee Culture, Ho Chi Minh City Overview

Compared to Hanoi’s luxury and branded coffee culture, Ho Chi Minh City is more laid-back and street-friendly. The most authentic version of coffee here is Ca Phe Bet or Flat Coffee which is served by mobile coffee sellers on motorbikes. Turtle Lake and Notre Dame Cathedral are where you will find them at large.

It is still a culture among the students and young people to get cheap, pocket-friendly, easy-to-order coffee from these vendors and settle down at a nearby place to drink it. District 1 has independent coffee shops like Things, Banksy, and Mockingbird. In these cafes, you can expect vintage furniture, bohemian vibes, lots of artsy and quirky decor, and warm hospitality. Yen Cafe in District 3 has a quaint retro look. The Fig Cafe, Ghe Dau Cafe, Loft 1 Cafe, Bang Khuang Cafe, and Gac Hoa Cafe have similar ambiances. Almost all of these cafes offer free Wi-Fi. You can sit here and study or work as long as you have ordered something.
