Lions Nature Education Centre, Hong Kong Overview

The Lion’s Nature Education Centre, located to the East of Hiram’s Highway near Sai Kung Town, is an 84-acre nature park used for recreation, scientific research, public education and nature conservation. The centre houses an arboretum, a rock and mineral garden, a nursery, an insectarium, a shell house and a medicinal plants garden. The Lions Nature Education Centre also includes a Dragonfly Pond which is the spotlight of the centre with over 100 species of the insect.

Some highlights of the centre are as follows:
  • Shell House: Beholds over 6000 types of unique and peculiar shells.
  • Specimen Orchard: Has more than 30 types of subtropical and tropical trees from areas of South China
  • Field Crops: Seasonal fruits, vegetables and other seeds are planted in the field.
  • Arboretum: Houses species of plants such as camellias and azaleas which were discovered in Hong Kong for the first time.
  • Chinese Herbal Garden: Cultivating over 300 types of Chinese herbal medicines.
  • Geopark Visitor Centre: Displays a brief evolution of the geographical and ecological history of Hong Kong.

How To Reach Lions Nature Education Centre

Take bus number 92 from Diamond Hill MTR station or bus number 96R on Sunday and public holidays from Diamond hill to reach Lions Nature Education Centre. Alternatively, one can also take minibus 1A from Choi Hung.
