Ocean Park, Hong Kong Overview

Ocean Park Hong Kong, located in Wong Chuk Hang, is a marine mammal park, oceanarium, animal theme park and amusement park. The second-largest theme park in Hong Kong, it is divided into two areas The Summit and The Waterfront. The two are connected by 1.5-kilometre long cable car system and the Ocean Express Funicular Railway.

The Summit and the Waterfront are further subdivided into a total of 8 zones - Marine World, Thrill Mountain, Adventure Land, Polar Adventure and the Rainforest in the Summit and Aqua City, Amazing Asian Animals and the Whiskers Harbour in the Waterfront. All these different zones have many rides, activities, games and even shows for visitors. Throughout the year, Ocean Park is host to several annual events such as on Halloween and the Christmas - New year period.

Ocean Park Attractions

Amongst the two main areas of Ocean Park lie 8 different segmented zones with different sort of adventure on offer.

The Summit is the thrill and adrenaline hub of Ocean Park. It is home to some of the wildest rides in the park such as the Hair Raiser, Raging River, The Rapids and The Flash. The Polar Adventure in the Summit is a place where one can come across creatures such as penguins, seals, walruses and other inhabitants of North and South Pole. There are tickets available for Ocean Park Penguin Encounter, Ocean Park Seal Encounter and Ocean Park Dolphin Encounter which will take visitors on an adventure of their life. The Ocean Theatre in this arena is the place to catch a glimpse of dolphins and other sea life perform live! Another recommended adventure in the Summit is the Mine Train which is a Virtual Reality roller coaster which has its passengers wear VR headsets and is a unique experience.

The Waterfront lies near the entrance of the park and is home to some of the most interesting attractions of Ocean Park such as the Grand Aquarium and Old Hong Kong Street. The Grand Aquarium accommodates over 5,000 fishes which belong to over 400 different species while the Old Hong Kong Street overs travel through nostalgia and has on display Hong Kong in the era of the 50s and 70s.
The Waterfront is also home to the ever-so-adorable pandas including Le Le and Ying Ying who happen to be the stars amongst others. The Aqua-City in this arena hosts a water screen show ‘Symbio’ which provides a 7-D experience combined with blasts of water, fire and has a 360-degree screen which indeed is a sight to behold.

In order to enjoy the park to its fullest, it's recommended that visitors take a cable car or express train and start their journey from The Summit since the queue for the aforementioned are shorter during opening hours.

Shows

Sea Dreams: This is the dolphin and sea lion shows where viewers can experience these beautiful creatures dance to music, swimming, slide and jump. In totality, the show is very educational and entertaining. The show takes place in the Ocean Theatre in Marine World at The Summit at 11:30 AM, 02:00 PM, 03:30 PM and 05:30 PM respectively.

Skyfair Celebrations: Taking places in ‘The Waterfront’, the ‘Skyfair Celebrations’ beholds stunts of acrobats, gymnasts, clowns and jugglers. This shows is performed daily at 12:30 PM, 3:00 PM, 4:30 PM, 6:00 PM, 7:30 PM respectively.

Sea Lion Show: This show beholds some adorable yet amazing stunts and acts performed by sea lions at the ‘Whiskers Theater’ at Whiskers Harbour at the Waterfront. The show takes place daily at 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 4:15 PM

Emperors of the Sky: As the name suggests, the show features several majestic birds including Eagles, Falcons who perform some tremendous tricks which mesmerize the audience. The show takes place at the ‘Bird Theatre’ in Amazing Asian Animals at the Waterfront and is performed daily at 11:00 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 5:30 PM

Symbio!: Symbio takes place every night at the Aqua City Lagoon in Ocean Park. The theme of the show is dancing fountains and dragons. The show has it all ranging from water, fire, laser to music, fireworks and is projected on to a 360-degree water-screen. The show is performed at 08:00 PM every day.

Ocean Park VIP Tour

Perhaps the best medium of enjoying an Ocean Park outing is the ‘VIP Tour’ which grants visitors direct access to attractions and a specifically tailored itinerary. VIP guests have the opportunity of getting up close with animals in exclusive interactive sessions and come across interesting facts about the park and its facilities. 
Cost: HKD 6,600 for 4 hours and HKD 1650 for each additional hour.
Number of Guests: The maximum number of guests in one tour is limited to 6
Medium: The tour is offered in both Cantonese and English.

How to Reach Ocean Park Hong Kong

MTR - Dismount at the Ocean Park Station on the South Island Line of the Hong Kong MTR.

Bus - Bus number 629 runs from Central Star Ferry Terminus to Ocean park daily between 9:30 AM and 11:30 PM. Frequency ranges between 20-60 minutes

Car - Ocean Park is easily accessible via car. Drive through the Aberdeen Tunnel onto the Wong Nai Chung Road Bypass. From there, take a left onto the Ocean Park road. The parking is available at the main entrance of the park and remains open from 9:00 AM to 30 minutes after the park closes.
The parking fee is as follows:
Monday to Friday (Off-peak days) - 25 HKD per hour, with a maximum charge of 150 HKD per day.
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays (Peak days) - 40 HKD per hour, with a maximum charge of 200 HKD per day.
