Shree Swaminarayan Hindu Temple (I.S.S.O) was established in Houston in 2000 and is the fourth of the group to be built in the United States. The temple is open to followers of every faith and is dedicated to the worship of Almighty Lord Swaminarayan, Ganapati Dev, Shankar Parvati and Lord Laxminarayan Dev, amongst others.
It focuses on educating the youth by organizing several programs and activities such as Gurukul, which focuses on modern day issues as well as religious camps, which seek to inculcate an appreciation for the religion. Also, it is known to take up social activities such as setting up blood donation camps, medical camps or distributing items amongst those who need them. Darshans are held on a daily basis and are open to all, while the temple also hosts events throughout the year. Some of these include Kesar Snaan, Shrimad Bhagwat Katha and Patotsav.
