Hua Hin Artists Village, better known as Baan Sillapin, is an excellent art-themed retreat just 5km away from the main center. There are 15 art families in the village; most have their traditional studios on the site. The artworks on exhibition in these studios include clay sculptures, paintings, woodcarving, photography, pencil sketches, watercolor, oil painting, jewelry, and handicraft items. Several of the items which are on display are also for sale.
There are many different styles of artwork on display for you to explore. You may even witness the artists busy with their creations in real time. You can negotiate with the artists but pay a fair price. There is a separate Art Gallery with similar artworks on display. The village also has a DIY workshop area where you can partake in painting, clay work, etc. It is a great activity to keep your kids busy. However, there are no teachers; it is an entirely free-to-experiment zone.
Baan Sillapin has an Art Cafe with a view of a small but lovely lake, which has impeccable interior decor covered in all types of traditional and contemporary artworks. You can enjoy refreshing tea, coffee, drinks, and snacks here. The cafe also sells a range of souvenirs, gift cards, and art items. Try out the Baansillapin Restaurant, which also serves authentic Thai food throughout working hours.
