Santo Fransiskus Asisi, Jakarta Overview
The Santo Fransiskus Assisi Elementary School was founded in 1966 under the guidance of the Archbishop of Jakarta, who saw the need for an educational institution to improve services to the people of Jakarta, specifically the South Jakarta Region. This Roman Catholic elementary school's claim to fame has been one of its attendees, former US president and prominent political figure Barack Obama, who attended the same for two years during his time in Jakarta.
Santa Fransiskus church is a beautiful blend of local and western architectural styles and is a beautiful depiction of values and styles which are depicted in the Karo tradition. The building is divided into two parts- one is the main hall where the main prayer meeting takes place and on the other side is a small pavilion which is a semi-open space where the youth gather for different types of church activities. Also, don’t miss out on the local delicious Karo food which is sold in the nearby area.
