Vivekananda Rock Memorial: The magnificent Vivekananda Rock Memorial is located on a small island off Kanyakumari, with the picturesque Indian Ocean in its backdrop. This statue was built in the year 1970 on the island situated in Vavathurai, built on the site where Vivekananda attained enlightenment. The Rock Memorial is situated on one of the two adjacent rocks projecting out of the Lakshadweep Sea and comprises the 'Shripada Mandapam' and the 'Vivekananda Mandapam'.
Thiruvalluvar Statue: Dedicated to the accomplished philosopher and poet Thiruvalluvar, this monument stands tall at a mighty height of 133 feet and is perched upon a 38-foot pedestal. The pedestal's height represents the 38 chapters of virtue in Thirukkural. Thiruvalluvar was the author of a legendary work in the world of Literature, Tirukkural, the classic Tamil text. The premises of the statue also has a temple which is a quaint spot for meditation.
Sunset Point: Watching the sunset at the southernmost tip of India is a sight to behold. Kanyakumari is at the confluence of the Indian ocean, Arabian sea and the Bay of Bengal. It's the only place in India where you can see both the sunrise and sunset at the same spot.
Gandhi Mandapam: It is a large memorial dedicated to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. It is located in the same spot where the urn of the ashes of this renowned individual was kept for the public to pay their homage. After the leader's death, his ashes were divided into 12 different urns and were scattered throughout the country for the general public to pay their last respect to this important figure. Kanyakumari was one of them. Inside the Gandhi Mandapam, visitors can witness a myriad of photographs of Gandhi, which were taken at different points in his life, and also his pictures with other famous personalities.
Kanyakumari Beach: Kanyakumari beach with its beautiful hue-changing beaches is the confluence of three water bodies: Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean, and the Arabian Sea. The water of three seas does not mix and you can distinguish between the turquoise blue, deep blue, and sea green waters of the three seas, though the colors keep changing with the season and the day's weather. The beach is not conducive to swim or surf as the sea is rough and the beach is rocky. To enjoy the best view, you can visit the Triveni Sangam point and climb up the famous lighthouse watchtower to entirely take in its beauty.
