Places to visit in Kinnaur include Kalpa, Sarahan, Reckong Peo, Kothi, Moorang and Nako. To enjoy pleasant weather suitable for sightseeing, travel to Kinnaur between April and October. Reckong Peo, the district’s headquarters, is known for its sprawling apple orchards that you can tour. The area is full of deodar and pine trees and overlooks the majestic Kailash Mountain and Shivling Rock.
Situated near the Indo-Tibetan road and along the Sutlej River, Sarahan is known as the “Gateway to Kinnaur” and is home to lush green terrace farms. Here you can visit apple orchards, explore deodar forests and apple orchards, sit by flowing streams. Besides its natural bounty, the hamlet is also home to the Bhimakali Temple featuring intricate woodwork, Bushahr Palace and Sarahan Bird Park.
Kinnaur tour packages also include Kalpa, the district’s main village in the Sutlej River Valley. You can visit temples and monasteries like the Narayan-Nagini Temple and Hu-Bu-Lan-Kar Monastery. If you are feeling adventurous, head over to Suicide Point, known for its treacherous slopes; the route to this point goes through apple orchards! And about 6-7km from Kalpa is Roghi Village, where you can learn about Himachali traditions.

In addition, you must visit the Lipa- Asrang Sanctuary and Chando Gompa. If you visit in January, you can witness the famous Sazo festival.
Moorang should undoubtedly be on your itinerary when you travel to Kinnaur because of its vast orchards and a fort built by the Pandavas. Moreover, Kinnaur is great for trekking; the Bhabha to Pin Valley and Chitkul to Gangotri routes are famous. You can spend about 5-6 days in the Kinnaur district, exploring its various villages and hamlets. There are hotels, homestays and also camps where you can stay.
