Perumal Peak, Kodaikanal Overview

Perumal Peak which is situated at the height of 2,440 meters is the highest peak of the Perumalai Hills. Nestled in the majestic Western Ghats, it is a place that is worth trekking. Situated around 18 km from Kodaikanal, Perumal Peak provides stunning views of the surrounding Western Ghats and the Nilgiri Hills.

Locals here believe that the peak was once a volcano that stopped erupting 1000 years ago. The path of the trek which leads one to the top is safe and part of an easy trek even for the ones who are trying trekking for the first time. The trail begins at Neutral Saddle near Perumal Malai which is a small village situated at the base of the peak. Though the peak forms a part of the forest area, there are no restrictions on the hiking done here since anyone can trek the peak without taking any permission from the Forest Department.
