Rynek Underground Museum is an underground museum built to showcase several items discovered during the archaeological excavations from 2005 to 2010. The exhibition shows historical coins, clay figures, decorations, dice, and toiletry articles used over 600 years ago to show daily life then.
It covers the journey of Kraków’s rich history in the Medieval period, along with its importance in culture and trade. To discover these, you take a route known as “Following the traces of European identity of Kraków.” The special attraction is the precious metal of the time, weighing 693 k which is known as the ‘loaf’. It has beautiful decoration and potteries dating back to the 14th century to signify the cultural importance of the city. It also features the stone and brick walls of the cellars of the Kramy Bolesławowe Stalls, Kramy Bogate Stalls, the Great Scales, and the Cloth Hall, which were important trading centres back in the day. The transport routes have also been preserved showing the advancements in technology in road building. The museum also has a playroom and a mechanical theatre to cater to the younger visitors, who get to learn while having fun.
