Aquaria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur Overview

Located at Suria KLCC Mall, Aquaria KLCC is one of the largest aquariums in Southeast Asia housing more than 250 varied species of animals. Spread over 60,000 square feet over two levels, the main highlight is the 90-meter underwater tunnel.

Constructed in 2003, Aquaria KLCC was officially opened to the public in 2005. It has since then consistently been involved in spreading awareness about marine life forms. The oceanarium takes one through a journey from the highlands, to the rivers, through the rainforest into the coral reefs and then into the open ocean.

Level 2
The Amazon Flooded Forest greets one with red tail catfishes and other mysteries of the Amazon Forest. Find out what The Coast is home to when discovering a vast expanse of coral reefs and sea horses. Make sure to visit to the deep sea creatures such as the Octopus. Aquaria KLCC aquarium also hosts fish feeding sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Diving With the Sharks

Aquaria KLCC has a program called Diving with the Sharks that allows visitors see tiger sharks and stingrays up close. This daredevil event is a must try for thrill seekers. The sharks have been living in the aquarium for more than 5 years and are domesticated, so visitors need not worry about any harm. For those visitors who don’t have a diving permit, the aquarium allows one to explore the ocean with the help of a submerged cage.

Tips

  • Visitors may experience long queue lines during weekends and public holidays. Hence, it is advised to visit the aquarium during weekdays.
  • It is recommended to visit the diving sharks program only if one is physically fit and have prior diving experience, as any sudden movement may scare the fishes.
