Originally owned by Malaysia's richest man, Loke Yew, the Loke Mansion is regarded as one of the most prestigious residences in Asia. Located in Jalan Medan Tuanku in Kuala Lumpur, the 11-acre mansion initially housed Loke's family. However, it is now occupied by the Cheang & Ariff law firm. The heritage structure is known for its unique architectural designs that boast of traditional Chinese cultures. Further, the grand entrance and antiques are also to look out for.
While Loke Yew adorned his mansion with Chinese architectural elements he also incorporated Moorish and European elements since he wanted his mansion to have a distinctive design. The architecture of the mansion is further inspired by the traditional Chinese feng shui practices which use energy to harmonize the environment. The Dutch-style gables, white louvre blinds and the red moongate adorned with calligraphy inscriptions further accentuate the beauty of the mansion. The backside of Loke Mansion is surrounded by a fish pond and willow trees which radiate the vibe of a Zen Garden.
