Robinson Gardens is a serene, iconic estate encircling the central mansion which was once home to Harry Robinson and is the birthplace of Beverly Hills. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the garden is beautifully manicured and has varied collections of orchards, vegetables, ornamental Californian flowers and tropical foliage.
With an eloquent blend of natural splendor and architectural excellence, the entrance of Robinson Gardens on a knoll above Sunset Boulevard leads you to a pool with mosaic tiles. The surrounding gardens boast of Roman arches, verdant subtropical bushes and tropical palm gardens. Further in, the herb garden is a pesticide-free zone with demonstrations of vegetable cultivation. Heirloom roses flank the lake shores which feature Italian style shady seating and picnic areas. You can spot and feed the playful ducks and herons at ponds. To accentuate the mannerist villa layout, sylvan patios and fountains have been carved majestically where Ronald Reagan and Charles Boyer have been regulars. With prior reservation, Robinson Gardens can be used for photoshoots and reception parties owing to dramatic backdrops of the Italian Terrace Garden. The 90-minute docent-led tours of the campus allow you to become acquainted with the Robinson family and their lifelong contribution to the flourishing of Southern California.
