Male City

The city is quite well organized with a mix of shops, apartments, office buildings and motorcycle jams for an easy and comfortable vacation.

Day 1: Male is rich in history as well as cultural diversity and one can reserve the first day for a historical tour through the city. Visit the ‘Old Friday Mosque' which is a beautifully carved structure which also allows non- Muslims to enter. After that, head out to the National museum which is ranked as the top museum to visit in Male.

In this freakishly large building, one will find many different artifacts which unravel the unusual history of the place. One can even head over to the Chinese- Maldives Friendship Bridge which beautifully connects the island to the rest of the country. Finish off the day with some delicious treats. If one is in the mood to try some authentic Thai cuisine, head out to ‘Sala Thai' or ‘Thai Wok', Thai Wok is a great place if one is on the lookout for some budget-friendly options.

Day 2: When in Male, one can not think of missing out on the great beaches. One of the main highlights is the ‘Artificial Beach' where one can take a fresh swim in the ocean, sit back on the white sand or try out some amazing mouth-watering snacks. If you are one for the sports head on over to the National Stadium which is famous for hosting some of the biggest soccer matches and also hosts cricket matches occasionally.

All this while, one can try some delicious meals on the way. Do check out ‘Sea Gull Café House' which boasts of a great view and great international foods from sandwiches to burgers and even curries! Another great place for food is ‘Bombay Darbar' which offers some of the best Indian food and is one of the most popular places to hang out in Male.

Day 3: Keep the last day in Male reserved for some traditional tourist sightseeing, while you party the night away. Visit the National Art Gallery during the day, to get marvelled in some amazing and authentic cultural displays of Maldivian culture. The ‘Produce Market' offers some great and fresh veggies which one can stock up on the way home.

Known for its authentic seafood, and when one is bored with the veggies is the ‘Fish Market' which is considered as the soul of Male and one can choose from a vast variety of fish. Lastly, end the night as one enjoys some great food and music at ‘Jazz Café'.

Male is a great place and one can easily cover the small city in not more than 3 days depending upon the things that one wishes to see. Great place for some unique history and culture and also some amazing food joints offering a variety of delicious cuisines.
