A contemporary art museum situated on Miami Beach, The Bass first opened its doors in 1964 in the building that was formerly the Miami Beach Public Library and features a private collection of its donors, John and Johanna Bass, hence earning it its name. Since then the collection of the museum only grew and it currently houses a wide collection of artwork from famous artists from all over the world.
The permanent pieces, as well as the temporary exhibitions, contribute to the promotion of the rich cultural history of the area as well as the ideas and messages that are conveyed by the artwork to both locals and tourists.
