The Jamia Mosque is the most important mosque in Kenya, located between Banda Street and Kigali Street in Nairobi. It dates to the beginning of the 20th century and boasts beautiful Arabic Islamic architecture.
The Jamia Mosque is predominantly made of white marble, with many surfaces featuring inscriptions from the holy Quran. Other notable architectural elements of the structure include twin minarets, a tower, a patio and three silver domes. Along one side of the mosque is a line of shops, and within its compound are a library, a multi-purpose hall and a training institute for learning Arabic, cloth making and computing.
