The Hills at Governors Island, New York City Overview

Located in the New York Harbour, the 10-acre hills at the Governors island is one of the latest addition to iconic New York landmarks. The Hills are full of green shrubs, grass, and trees, providing a contrast to NYC’s urban skyline.

There are four hills on the island. The Grassy Hill is the shortest one at 25 feet high. It has gentle slopes and is perfect for having a picnic or just laying on the soft grass. The Slide Hill is 40 feet high and has four slides. It also has a 57 feet long slide which is the longest slide in all of  New York. It is very popular amongst kids.

The third hill is the Discovery Hill which has shrubs and trees and ‘Cabin’, a contemporary art installation by Rachel Whiteread. The largest hill is the Outlook Hill, which stands at 70 feet and offers a 360-degree view of the New York Harbour and Statue of Liberty. A ‘scramble’ made out of granite offers a shortcut to climb the Outlook Hill quicker.
