Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, New York City Overview

The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens were founded in 1910 and have since become a popular destination for anyone interested in observing and learning about a variety of flora. With over 14000 varieties of plant species spread across various pavilions with different climate zones and specialised gardens, the botanic gardens are a crowd favourite and draw more than a million visitors every year.

The 52-acre enclosure also contains a conservatory, a bonsai museum, a large aquatic plants display and an art gallery. Though the gardens are very well maintained and a joy to visit any time of the year, the cherry blossom season in spring is especially spectacular. With more than 200 cherry blossom trees, the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens are one of the foremost cherry blossom viewing sites outside of Japan.
