The Central Park Zoo is located within Central Park in the heart of NYC. Being relatively small due to its urban location, this zoo still impresses visitors with its exhibits and attracts more than a million people every year.
There are 3 major exhibit areas to be explored- Tropic, Temperate and Polar.
Apart from the wildlife it houses, this zoo boasts of a rich history as it is the successor to what was New York’s first public zoo established back in 1864. Many iconic pieces of art and sculpture from the past century are still on display here. The Central Park Zoo is also where the first non-human instance of whispering was observed when a group of Tamarin monkeys were heard whispering around a staff member that they disliked.
Its central location also makes this zoo very easy to get to by public transport.
