About 14 miles from New York City, the family-owned Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park from Coney Island overlooks the Coney Island beach, Riegelmann Boardwalk and the Atlantic Ocean. Opened in 1920, the main attraction and a designated landmark is the Wonder Wheel standing 150 feet tall. Go for the stationary white car or the swinging blue and red cars to whirl on the Wonder Wheel and marvel at the Manhattan skyline.
The other four adult rides include Spook-A-Rama, Thunderbolt, Bumper Cars and Stop the Zombies, where the last three have height requirements. There are sixteen kiddie rides namely Samba, Pony Carts, Rio Grande Train etc with respective height requirements. Featured in many movies, television series and advertisements, the park has free admission and offers credits for each adult and kiddie ride. Grab a bite at Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs, Famous Familigia Pizzeria, Deno’s Snack Bar or Old Fashioned Sweet Shoppe. From 26th June till 4th September, every Friday, there is a fireworks show.
