The Queens Zoo, an 18-acre expanse of architecture and wildlife, is a great way to escape the urban surroundings of Queens.
Most famous for its aviary which is housed inside the historic dome constructed for the 1964 world’s fair, this eclectic zoo in New York is also home to the last Andean bear born in captivity. The animal exhibits are divided into 2 parts. One with animals native to the Americas, and the other with more domesticated animals and a petting zoo which is a great experience for young visitors.
