Walking three minutes on foot from the Rockefeller Center in Manhattan will take you to the 100m tall St Patrick’s Cathedral that boasts of the neo-gothic decoration.
Built-in 1878, this parish church is the seat of Roman Catholic Archdiocese archbishop of New York, Facing the International Building and Atlas Statue, the brick and marble-clad church with two magnanimous spires is the largest cathedral of North America. The stained glassworks and rose window by Charles Connick, as well as the artworks namely William Partridge’s Pieta, bust of Pope John Paul II and Stations of the Cross, are treats to the eyes. Check out the shrine of St Charbel and six bronze doors with relief sculptures of six missionary people and inscriptions regarding their work. From Monday till Friday, mass is observed from 7 AM till 12 noon, on Saturday from 8 AM, 12 noon and 5:30 PM and on Sunday from 10:15 AM, 1 PM and 4 PM.
