The house of Prayer, Newark Overview
The house of Prayer was founded back in 1849 and is the third episcopal church in Newark. This church is the 15th oldest of around 125 congregations in the Diocese of Newark and also one of the most historic epiiscopal parishes in New Jersey. The parish was established in the last 19th century to serve the people of Newark which was then a town of around 40000 residents. It has been successful in pioneering new ways in community service, worship, music and even technology.
