Coorg to Ooty

The road distance between Coorg and Ooty is around 237 kilometres and can be covered easily in around 6 to 7 hours, depending on the route that you choose. This is also the fastest way to reach Ooty from Coorg because there are no other means of transport that will take you directly from Coorg to Ooty without having to change routes midway.

The Routes That Can Be Taken

The most commonly taken route to reach from Coorg to Ooty is the following: Coorg- Madikeri - Kushalnagar - Hunsur - Heggadadevankote - Sargur - Begur - Gundlupet - Masinagudi – Ooty. This route will take you through a total of 235 kilometers or so, and the roads are really well built, which makes this drive a breeze. You should be able to complete your journey through this route in a maximum of 7 hours.

Road Conditions

The roads in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are really well built, and driving through this route is really comfortable. The journey is filled with scenic views, and you will pass through wildlife sanctuaries and dams on your way. Besides, a lot of ATMs and petrol pumps can also be found on this route at regular intervals. 

There are no direct buses that run from Coorg to Ooty. The best option for those willing to travel by bus would be to take a bus from Coorg to Mysore, which will take around 3 hours; and then from Mysore, board another bus or take a cab to travel to Ooty. This part of the journey will take you around 5 hours. 

The distance between Coorg and Mysuru is 106 kilometers, and buses normally take 2 hours and 45 minutes to complete this journey.  Numerous buses operate on this route, which are operated by the government (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) as well as by private operators such as Ashwini Tours and Travels, Manu Tourists, etc. Fares for buses start from as low as INR 350 per person, and then increase depending on the kind of bus chosen. Travelers can choose from AC Sleeper, AC seater as well as non-AC Seater buses to travel from Coorg to Mysuru. 

Buses that leave from Coorg pick up passengers from various points all over Coorg, so that travelers can board the bus from the bus stop that is closest to them. These boarding points include Suntikoppa, Kushal Nagar, Bylakuppe and the Coorg Bus Stop in Madkeri. On the other hand, the dropping points in Mysore include the Mysuru Bus Stand, Infosys Campus and Nanjangud Bypass. 

From the Mysore Bus Stand, travelers will have to board another bus, which will drop them to Ooty.
