The Museo de Art de Ponce houses an extensive collection of European, American and African art from as far back as the 14th century. It is the largest art museum in the Caribbean, and ever since it's renovation and reopening in 2010, has become a top class facility. The museum's collection is globally believed to be one of the finest of the Western Hemisphere, displaying exquisite works in Italian Baroque, Puerto Rican folk art, Pre-Raphaelite, Spanish and Latin contemporary. Famous artists featured in the museum include Bartolom_ Esteban Murillo, Peter Paul Rubens, and Sir Edward Burne-Jones, whose last ever masterpiece The Last Sleep of Avalon is one of the most important pieces of the museum.
