Fleet Science Center, San Diego Overview

Fleet Science Center is a Science Museum in San Diego, California. It is situated in the Balboa park at the eastern end of the El Prado Drive walkway. It was established in 1973. The center is named in the name of the aviation pioneer Reuben H. Fleet, who initiated the U.S. Air Mail service. It is an educational center that features practical exhibitions, a planetarium, IMAX (OMNIMAX) dome theatre, and interactional displays.

Along with the planetarium shows, the museum association wanted to use a large film projection format system to show movies on the dome's interior. Then OMNIMAX, a 65mm modification by IMAX was installed. This center operates to unite the people of every age to the capabilities and power of science to create a better tomorrow. By visiting this science center, you can explore and study over 100 exhibits that will provoke your curiosity for science, such as Retro-Active Science; Cellular Journey; San Diego's Water, So Watt!; and more. Also, the Fleet has the first IMAX Dome Theater in the world, featuring the biggest films on the planet.
