La Jolla Indian Campground is the only one of its kind with access to tubing at the spring-fed San Luis Rey river. Facing the foothills of Palomar Mountain, this sprawling site features untouched wilderness and native plants like chia, berries, oaks and sage trees. Also popular for hiking, biking and horseback riding, this area attracts tourists with an interest in the history and culture of the heartwarming tribal community, La Jolla Luiseno Indians.
Tucked amidst the state’s most authentic beach town, Oceanside, La Jolla Indian Campground offers lavishly decorated tents, RVs, trailers and rustic caravans with modern amenities. In contrast to many exposed sun-soaked spots, there are abundant shady spots with canopied foliage to pitch your tent beneath and enjoy picnics. Owing to cool weather and plenty of stars, bonfires are the best entertainment to indulge in during evenings, including live music and performances. You can enjoy hiking to Boucher Hill and visit the Fire Lookout Tower for expansive views of Northern San Diego. The adjacent river is an extremely favorite spot for deep sea fishing, cruising, whale watching, water skiing, surfing and sunset viewing. Palomar Observatory in the vicinity is the best place to enjoy stargazing and interactive programs.
